It’s a wonder any Gen X kids made it out of childhood alive. I’m kidding of course but family trips were much easier in the 70s. The trips weren’t safer but family vacations were much easier on my parents. They didn’t care about keeping anyone busy or about air quality in the car. My parents chain-smoked (with the windows rolled up) as we spent time on the road as a family. We took our family road trips in our EL CAMINO STATION WAGON, which was bright yellow. Our family trips were to California to see the beach, family reunions, and we even drove to Mexico a few times. We may not have been safe but we were certainly entertained. And that’s saying something when you consider how much my parents argued – even in front of us kids! Ahh…the memories of family trips in the 70s – good times!
