Holiday Inn: Luxury and Laundry Rooms

HolidayInn

This is another old post from my parenting blog about staying at a Holiday Inn. I think this chain is a great option for traveling with kids.

Our family stayed at a Holiday Inn a few weeks ago in Los Angeles. Before our recent trip, we had not stayed in a Holiday Inn for over 10 years. Holiday Inn is launching a whole new look and updating their hotels.  The chain is upgrading and remodeling to fit the needs of busy families.  We stayed at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in Studio City, California.  Our hotel was in the midst of getting the new upgrades and we stayed in one of the newly updated rooms.

The hotel chain has seen an increase in families traveling for work —-like ours—-and the parents bring the kids along. The changes the hotel chain is making are family friendly and fabulous! Our family had a quick trip to LA area for work and play a few weeks ago.

I remember staying at Holiday Inns as a kid and the rooms were nice, and the hotel was a great place for families to stay. I am here to tell you that Holiday Inn is back! The newly revamped, family friendly modern Holiday Inn is awesome.
When I got home from my trip, I called the people at Holiday Inn to tell them what a wonderful time we had and give them a mom’s opinion on the new changes.

Holiday Inn has Luxury…and Laundry Rooms
The new initiative that Holiday Inn recently launched is FABULOUS. I loved our hotel because it was very nice and I felt pampered but there were all kinds of conveniences that only a mom could love.

Laundry room with washer and dryer -Most nice hotels don’t have a laundry room. If your kids get their clothes all messy, you have to have the hotel wash them or wash the clothes by hand. Our Holiday Inn had a washer/dryer for every building and I was able to do laundry (thank goodness) after my girls did the beach…in their clothes.  I had to go to the office to get quarters for the laundry, which is a very small complaint. A big bonus was that the laundry room had little mini boxes of detergent for sale.

Family Suites-Holiday Inn is creating more rooms as family suites.  A family suite has a separate area for the kids to sleep, giving mom and dad an almost private room.  The room we stayed in had a separate kid sleeping area with a bunk bed and a TV with games on it!  Can you say, heaven? Our girls are 15 and 11, so everyone needs space when we travel but we really can’t afford to get two different hotel rooms. The family suite was  a great solution and the girls loved it. Here is a picture of one of the family suite bunk beds in the family suite. I tried to take a video of the room but it does not do the room justice.

Kids Eat Free-This is not a typo. Holiday Inn has a program where kids eat free when a parent buys a meal. We used our Kids Eat Free perk for breakfast everyday and for one dinner.  I had heard via ads that there was a Kids Eat Free promotion but I thought there was a catch. I am here to tell you, NO CATCH, kids really eat free at Holiday Inn.

Free and Very Fast Wi-Fi-Tim and I are connected to our laptops 24/7. A good Internet connection is often hard to find at a hotel and FREE Wi-Fi connection is golden.  It was wonderful! I don’t know if they have this at every Holiday Inn but it was at the Beverly Garland.

Money doesn’t grow on trees in our household, as we tell our daughters. If your family doesn’t have a money tree in your backyard, check out the new and improved Holiday Inn. If you want to check on location of one of the revamped hotels, the website has a list that is updated regularly.
