If you are a home decor addict, you are constantly searching for good fabric. I have a list of my favorite online fabric stores and resources with a wide range of options, from high-end designer fabrics to budget-friendly bargains. This list of my favorite online fabric stores is based on my home decor style and taste. Knowing what fits your style is critical to finding good fabric (and cozy home decor). I love toile and striped fabric and use duck canvas for slipcovers and curtains. So, my list reflects where I’ve found inspiration and bargains for the fabrics I love. Thrifty shopping doesn’t mean you get the cheapest deal. Being thrifty is about saving when you can and splurging on the stuff you love most. The stores below are my go-to destinations for online fabric.
As mentioned, I’m obsessed with Toile fabric. I love Spoonflower’s Toile, from uber-traditional patterns to funky Dinosaur Toile.
Why reinvent the wheel? I go to my favorite interior designers for inspiration and advice when in doubt.
Emily Henderson is one of the QUEENS of home decor and design that is casual and comfortable with a realistic budget for the rest of us. I have bookmarked Emily Henderson’s list of online fabric stores; you should, too. Visit Emily Henderson’s blog for her Best Online Fabric Stores list.
Erin Gates is an interior designer and OG blogger who started Elements of Style when blogs were the new shiny thing. Erin’s Elements of Style books are a well-worn resource on my coffee table. I love her mix of classics with a bit of sass and whimsy. Here’s a great Elements of Style blog post about Window Treatments 101.
Deadstock shopping is a hidden gem for thrifty designers. Deadstock fabric is the surplus material from mills and brands that didn’t sell. Like all bargain shopping, there’s no free lunch. You have to sift through the junk, but you can find gold! Deadstock fabric websites with high-quality designer fabric. By using deadstock options, you aren’t just saving money. You’re saving the planet by keeping the fabric out of landfills. Here is one of my favorite Deadstock online stores:
Queen of Raw leans toward fashion fabrics, but you can find upholstery fabrics that are good quality at a great price.
La Finch Fabrics leans toward fabrics for fashion, but I love this online store because I use a ton of denim and chambray in our home decor. There are excellent prices for high-quality denim and chambray fabric that you can use for upholstery.
I am a Redditor. I am part of many sub-Reddit grounds to follow my favorite TV shows and get tips for my DIY projects. One of my favorite sub-Reddit groups helps me find fabric.
